Mary Montelongo graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. She then obtained her Juris Doctorate from Western State University College of Law, where she graduated Cum Laude, in the top 10% of her graduating class. While at Western State, Ms. Montelongo served as Technical Editor and Symposium Editor of the Law Review. She also received the Witkin Academic Excellence Award for achieving the highest grade in: Evidence, Professional Skills I, Professional Skills II and Family Law. Ms. Montelongo also received the Directors’ Scholarship at Western State each year she was a student.
Ms. Montelongo began her career in workers’ compensation over 20 years ago as a workers’ compensation claims adjuster. She then worked full-time as a Law Clerk at a workers’ compensation defense firm while attending law school. Prior to joining Colantoni, Collins, Marren, Phillips & Tulk, LLP, Ms. Montelongo was a sole practitioner who represented clients in a variety of matters including business law, consumer law, and criminal matters. She also represented Applicants in workers’ compensation matters for an Applicant firm which allowed her to further develop excellent negotiation skills. Ms. Montelongo’s extensive experience in workers’ compensation allows her to successfully defend the rights of employers, insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured clients. She is admitted to practice in both State and Federal Court.
